de daumier-smith's blue period.

why are we inclined to complicate that which is so simple?
by questioning ourselves incessantly, do we really get any answers?

we clothe ourselves with traits we deem desirable and parade in front of a crowd of people that are not watching. in fact, they are all far too busy staring inwardly themselves.

we make our crises the crises of others.
we demand that meaning and depth be poured into our lives by others.

we frantically dig around for tips on living this life, because for some reason we became too afraid to ask for help. to be perceived as weak is a far greater failure than to simply fail. to be perceived as ignorant or dumb is altogether inconceivable. so we muddle each other up with sarcastic comments and rhetoric, working hard to prevent further probing or revealing of our own faults.

the light will come.
it will hit, blinding us and sending us reeling. giving no other option than to admit our shortcomings, to ask for help. to turn our gaze outward, to show admiration for another. to bestow upon each other sincere thanks and abundant praise.

we were not meant to go at this alone.
