sip of something poison.

an awakening.

rediscover. reimagine. reappreciate. rewind. rethink.

there is much to be said about a person who is able to objectively peer into their own life, name their shortcomings and actively work to reverse them. however, i think most of us get stuck in the land between. we acknowledge our faults and name our shortcomings, but we would rather feel sorry for ourselves than actively work to reverse.

how can we push ourselves over that hump?

you just do it.

i think the length of time you spend in-between is directly proportional to the confident hope you profess and the amount of grace you choose to receive. by holding ourselves down with grief and sorrow we are consciously (or unconsciously) keeping ourselves in control. we feel that by punishing ourselves we will make a better decision the next time. but the truth is, we are human, so we won't make any better decisions as long as we are sinners. the quicker we are able to fall at the Fathers feet, thankful for enough grace and mercy to cover over our multitude of screw ups, the sooner we can bounce back. because in accepting that grace, we begin to realize that we have nothing to do with it..

don't punish yourself. allow the God of justice to rule.
don't feel sorry for yourself. accept the mercy God bestows.
don't quit on yourself. praise God for never turning his back on you.

fight harder, not so you can claim victory, but so that God may more powerfully claim victory through your story.
